You’ll Leave Too

Here lies Me,

A bird in its cage.

Wings clipped, hands tied.

Bound and gagged.

There’s no way out.

He stands and watches.

Watches as i writhe in pain.

As I struggle with my bonds.

His palm faces upward,

In it lies the key.

I reach for it,

But the closer I get,

The further he is.

I reach for him,

Yearning for his touch.

Aching for my release.

My joints pop, muscles tear,

As I stretch through the bars for the key.

I reach for him, my eyes pleading.

He shakes his head, turning to leave.

NO, PLEASE, I shout.

But he doesn’t hear me,

His disappointed eyes shift,

And he leaves me in the dark.

All alone once more.
